Great weekend for the Cats - Big win on the road in football against Auburn.  Puts us in pretty good position to make a great bowl run.  Can't say enough about Coach Rich Brooks and the foundation he's setting.

Big Celebration @ Midnight Madness for the start of BBall season.  Man, we've got some speed & talent - I'm excited to see how well this group meshes & how far we can go!  Cal Yall.  Here's a video from UK Athletics to get you pumped...

A Great Warrior - Mr. Tom Cobb

Rachel & me lost a great friend last week.  Tom Cobb was an 86 year old shining example of loyalty and commitment to his family, friends, and the Lord Jesus.  I never heard a negative word come from Mr. Cobb.  He was always willing to help, serve, and lock arms with those he knew & loved. 

Mr. Cobb was a huge UK fan and a former winner of the Distinguished Alumni Service Award.  He was very active in our local UK Alumni Club and helped start the annual UK vs UofL golf scramble that was held on this past Friday - the same day as his funeral...no coincedences there.

At the funeral, Rev. Steve Rice, spoke of him being a great warrior.  Indeed, he was. 

Thanks for the example Mr. Cobb. our generation can learn lots from your dedication and involvement to make the people and the community better.

Congrats to fellow Kentuckian, Darius Miller, a UK Bballer who brought home the gold medal with his teammates to the USA.  Now it's time to bring the national championship to its rightful place in LexVegas baby!

Kentucky's Killer Class

Huge news for UK...John Wall is coming to Lexington! I'm thrilled - This kid is absolutely ridiculous & can't be stopped on the court.  Our killer recruiting class was already ranked #1 in the nation, & now moves into one of the best in the history of college basketball.  Per rivals.com:

The best news is that Kentucky Basketball is back where it should be. Scout.com analyst Dave Telep put it best as he said here, "'I think right now everybody's on notice," Telep said. This is old school Kentucky right now, and the rest of the country has been served notice. This is the real deal. These guys are coming after players, they're getting guys, and they have a powerful product to sell."

Blue White Game

Had a great Saturday that started with a complimentary round of golf here.  Nice course & challenging too.  Ended up shooting a solid round & enjoying the company of my brother & good friends - Was very pleased with that! 

Afterwards, went over to the Annual Blue White game - UK's spring intrasquad football game. Joining the other 20,000 fans in the sunny weather, got a chance to see what the CATS are working with.

First impressions - We have lots more talent & depth than in past seasons.  Our defense is especially good returning Trevard Lindley & Micah Johnson.  However, I have great concern for our offense.  We need one of the freshman recruits to step up @ QB. The bright spot here is most certainly Randall Cobb. Tough schedulethis year including a four game run against Florida, Bama, @ South Carolina, @ Auburn.

Looking forward to the season & watching the SEC run college football once again.

The Next Jordan

Wanna know who the next Jordan will be?  My guess is John Wall.  This kid is unreal.  A highly competivite point guard that can pentrate, dish, break down a defense with ease, & finish above the rim.  If video isn't enough, try this dunk on for size.  

Shelby County's Favorite Wildcat - Mike Casey

The funeral of Mike Casey will happen this afternoon - A sad day for Shelby County.   

Mike was KY Mr. Basketball in 1966, won the state title for Shelby County the same year, went on to be a nationally known player @ UK, was All-SEC three times, & was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated - not bad for a hometown boy! 

Yesterday, I went to the visitation.  I have never seen one so well attended.  Main Street was completely covered. The funeral is expected to turn out huge numbers @ the Shelby County High School Gym.

Mike was a such a terrific guy & so approachable.  In my opinion, He was one of the most popular Wildcats ever & the most well known person to come out of our community. He was a great man & will be missed. 

Rachel & I have had the great honor of staying in touch with his daughter & our friend, Laura, throughout the process.  Her faith has been remarkable.  A true testimony to trusting God no matter the circumstances.  Please join me in praying for the family.
