Here's a post from my Rachel...
I hate to get all beggish on your, but I'm going to anyway because it's for a good cause.
The Ride to Conquer Cancer is next weekend. Lee and I (and hundreds
others) will ride from Louisville to Lexington and back to raise money
for local cancer research, prevention and treatment via the Norton
Cancer Institute. I am riding because of all of the people I love who
have or will battle cancer. And to be honest, there are many times when
I think that it could be me or my husband or my sweet little boy who
walks out of the doctor's office with a shocking diagnosis. Although I
pray that it's not, Lord!
We have been training to get in shape for the major physical
challenge that awaits us. I mean, I have been wearing spandex shorts in
public for goodness sake. We have also been raising money to meet our
personal goals of $2,500 ($5,000 total), but we are still short. The
following individuals have made generous donations to my ride:
Laura Wills - Coppelman, Angela Webb, Sarah and Craig Howard, The
Stover Family, Kim Kluemper, Julia Ann Daniel, Janet Hood, Will Nash,
John Herbst, Katie Biagi - Kapper/Marcia Biagi, Pete & Shirley
Friedrich, Jewell Sloan, Carol Higdon, Mack Johnson, Lori Suthon, Jamie
Ennis, In Memory of Mamou, In Memory of Mattie Bell Hatcher, Natalie
Gossum [THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU]
I have also raised money through a street collection in Shelbyville (see pic of me - yes, I wore a helmet) and a yard sale. But I need your help to reach my goal.
Please consider giving what you are able for this local initiative.
That may be $25, $5, $200, _____ (fill in the blank). Just $25 sponsors
one full mile of my trip. But I am thankful for any amount and
certainly amazed at the people who have gone over and beyond to sponsor
my ride.
It's easy to donate. Click here
to visit my personal page or here to visit Lee's and make a donation. This is a plea. I can't
do it without you! Yes, you, Not the other person reading this. You:).
Thanks for letting me beg, y'all.
